Now Miley has been the talk of the globe this year. But lets be honest, anyone over 17 had kind of forgotten about her. She was a 'I wonder what she's doing now?' girl. Lets face it she hadn't really done anything note worthy since Hannah Montana and I think after we hit the age of fourteen - at a push! We stopped really caring who she was and what she was doing.
Another thing, she hasn't really changed since she started doing Hannah Montana, the same long brown hair and classic all american girl looks had been her style since 2006. So earlier this year I guess she'd decided she'd had enough of being a pre-teen idol and changed everything. Cut off her hair, and went for the shock factor.
I think we have to admire her for doing something so drastic, so different to what everyone else was doing. She completely broke out of her shell. I won't say she changed what the perception of a disney girl is, because she hasn't. Dinsey girls have this gogeous fresh young look until they hit about 20 and decide that they're going to rebel and the pose in skimpy outfits and push all the boundries. In that respect she's done exactly what we thought she would.
The problem there is, is that Hannah Montana is still being shown on Disney, and all it takes if for one 11 year old girl to google 'Hannah Montana' click through to Miley Cyrus and see her twerking and think 'Hey if it's okay for her to do, then it's okay for me to do too!' Only I think that is a very narrow minded way of looking at it, children are not raised in front of TV screen, they have parents and teachers and they learn what is acceptable and what isn't and create their own oppinions based on that.
The reason why I think she deserves props, isn't because she swings on a wrecking ball naked, or that her album's name is British slang for boobs. No it's that she seems to be judged continuously for all her short comings and pretty much everyone says 'Yeah I don't like her' Yet she made UK number 1! Clearly we do like her, because we like her enough to buy her single and her album enough times that she scores number one!
I think she deserves a little less chatting about, and a bit more of a Well Done!
What's your opinion on Miley and her re-invetion?
